With that out of the way, it was an enjoyable book to read I've had actually had something in common with this girl in the book on what happened to her. I'm pretty sure most people could relate to her.

It's a good quick read I would recommend this book in an Elementary School also Very short, and has easy vocabulary to read from a high level of an Elementary Schooler. My only problem was that the only funny part was the part where the girl, Debbie, is waiting for a phone call and tells the reader about four things to do while you await YOUR phone call.

Guest More than 1 year ago I read this book for school cause only it was short and I wasn't really especting it to be exciting but when I read more and more it like sucked me in it. I felt bad for debbie cause I could relate her situation to a situation I went through in life with my friends. This is a book I recommend you should read. This is one of those rare gems of a story that is so incredibly light on plot but draws you into the emotion of the main character so well that you are surprised when it is over.

It is set in the early '70s, but is equally applicable to middle schoolers now. The emotions Debbie feels, from jealousy to loneliness to joy, will reverberate in the readers much more powerfully than the sparse prose would suggest, perhaps because this book's power is that almost everyone will have had similar experiences in their life. The pencil drawings that populate many of the pages help add depth and detail to the story. The realizations Debbie comes to about life placed inside a book with a title that will grab the attention of anyone feeling lonely will hopefully bring many middle school readers to realize that they, too, are not all alone in the universe.

Anonymous More than 1 year ago Ok This book is only - what, about pages long? To Make it worse, all the periods and stuff are tiny squares. Its hard to read despite how short it is Maggie Retton More than 1 year ago Ripoff! Only 97 pages long!! Anonymous More than 1 year ago. Young teenage girls who will eventually face similar circumstances will benefit from a read of this emotionally insightful story. I think this book deserves four out of five stars. This book is about when a girl named Debbie loses her best friend, Maureen, to another girl named Glenna.

A problem that occurs in this story is when Debbie, Maureen, and Glenna go to the carnival. Debbie feels left out the entire time.

Throughout the book, Debbie must try to overcome her loneliness and find new friends. Guest More than 1 year ago This book is really great and captures a teenagers thoughts extremely well. The author is also a great person for everyone who dosen't know her! Guest More than 1 year ago I read this book because I could relate to the title. It was humorus and really lifelike. I really enjoyed it. Guest More than 1 year ago I would recommend this book to readers at a younger age and that are having some friendship problems! In this book I laughed and had a great time.
